Who stalks on the back of his
master's chair
And leaps in his lap for a vigorous
pat?
Who purrs when his master strokes his
hair?
Jeff, the handsome long-haired
cat.
Who washes himself when he's through
with dinner
Aligning his fur pushed this way and
that?
Who proudly displays that he is a
winner?
Jeff, the handsome long-haired
cat.
Who sits in the window and basks in
the sun,
Disdaining all bustle--an
aristocrat
Enjoying the homage of the hearts he
has won?
Jeff, the handsome long-haired
cat.
Who washes Hinda, her face and her
ear,
While Hinda relaxes inert as a
mat?
(The basset's his friend, that is quite
clear.)
Jeff, the handsome long-haired
cat.
Who brings joy to his master's
heart,
Peace, contentment and all of
that?
Of his master's life he is a dear
part!
Jeff, that handsome long-haired
cat.
Jeff was Fr. Leo Joyce's cat which he had
when he came to Our Lady of the Lake Church.
Hinda was a puppy Fr. Leo acquired after coming to Green Lake. The cat and dog lived peacefully
together, Fr. Leo also had a pet bird
and some pet fish.
