Somewhere out
in the world tonight
Are my children happy or sad?
Do they mourn a loss or trouble
Or cherish a heart that is
glad?
Are they happy, cheerful and
gay
As the rest of the world goes
by?
Or dreadful of some foreboding
And heaving a sorrowful sigh?
Are their friends the kind to help
them
When they come to the rocky
roads?
Is there anyone there to
encourage
When they must lift life's heavy
loads?
Do they ever think of Mother
Who held them on her knee,
And forgive me the neglect I've
done,
And whisper a prayer for me?
Do they lift their minds to their
God
And sense the heavenly plan
That the help of the Holy
Spirit
Descends upon obedient man?
Written when my oldest children had left
home. Late 1960s?
