At the annual meeting of School District No 5 of the Towns of Brooklyn and St. Marie held on the 28th of September 1868 pursuant to public notice.
Unanimously resolved that Joel Whiting be Chairman for the meeting
Also W. N. McConnell be clerk for the Same
Resolved that the treasurers report be accepted
Resolved that Augustus Palmer be District Clerk for the ensuing three years
Resolved that David Rosebrook be Director for two years to fill vacancy  J M [?] Root Librarian for one year
Resolved that one hundred and fifty Dollars be raised for teachers wages the ensuing year
Resolved that 27 Dollars be raised to pay Mrs. Willis for teachers Board
Resolved that $5 Dollars be raised for incidentals
Resolved that the Dist buy 12 cords of wood half Green & half dry 2 feet long of W. N. McConnell
Resolved that this meeting be adjourned till the 10th of Oct next 2 Oclock PM

     At an adjourned meeting of joint School Dist No 5 of the town of Brooklyn and St. Marie met pursuant to adjournment on the 10th of Oct. AD 1868
Unanimously resolved that E. W. Overton be chairman for the meeting
Resolved that we adjourn 20 minutes to look a Site for School House
Resolved that we chose a Site center to be 32 rods north of gr Stake between 7 & 8
Resolved that we except this resolution
Resolved that the Board be empowered to pay M. P. Hadley 60 Dollars for one acre of land.

    
Contract between School Dist No 5 and Teacher
It is hereby agreed between School Dist No 5 of the Town of Brooklyn and Edwin J. Hayes a qualified teacher of the Town of Brooklyn that the Said Edward J Hayes is to teach the common School of Said District for the term of 3 1/2 months for the sum of 40 Dollars per month Commensing on the 16 day of November 1868 and for such services properly rendered the Said Dist is to pay to the Said E. F. Hayes the amount that may be due according to this Contract on or before the 20th day of March 1869

Contract between School Dist No 5 and Teacher
     It is hereby agreed between School Dist No 5 of the Town of Brooklyn and Edward J. Hayes a qualified teacher of the Town of Brooklyn that the said E. J. Hayes is to teach the common school of Said Dist for the term of 3 1/2 months for the Sum of $25 Dollars per month commensing on the 19th Day of April 1869 and for Such Services properly rendered the Said Dist is to pay to E. J. Hayes the amount that may be due according to this contract on or before the 1st Day of August 1869

Resolved that $150 Dollars be raised for teachers wages.
Resolved that $45 Dollars be raised to pay M. P. Hadley for School House lot
Resolved that $8 Dollars be raised for incidentals
Resolved that the District buy 10 cords of oak wood 2 feet long half green half Seasoned to G. Buckland for 15 Shillings per Cord $18.75
Resolved that 3 1/2 months winter School be taught by Duly qualified teacher.

Childs is to teach the Common School of Said District for the term of 3 an 1/2 months for the Sum of Eighteen Dollars per month commensing on the Eighteenth  Day of April 1870and for Such services propperly rendered the Said District is to pay to E. F. Childs the amount that may be due according to this contract on or before the 18th Day of August 1870

Whittemore is to teach the common School of Said District for the term of 4 months for the sum of $140. being thirty-five Dollars per month commencing on the        of November 1870 and for such services propperly rendered the Said District is to pay to L. F. Whittemore the amount that may be due according to this contract on or before the 1st Day of April 1871

     It is hereby agred between Joint School Dist No 5 in the Towns of Brooklyn and St. Marie and Emma Shoemaker a qualified Teacher of the Town of Brooklyn that the Said Emma Shoemaker is to teach the common School of Said Dist. for the term of four months of twenty Days Each for the Sum of One Hundred and fifty Dollars being Thirty Seven and a half Dollars per month Commencing on the 13th Day of november 1871 and for Such Services properly rendered the Said District is to pay Emma Shoemaker the Sum that may be due according to this contract on or before the tenth Day of Nov 1871

Contract
     It is hereby agreeed between Joint School District No 950 in the Towns of Brooklyn and St. Marie and E. F. Childs a qualified Teacher of the Town of Berlin.  that the Said E. F. Childs is to Teach the common School of Said District for the term of four months for the Sum of Thirty Dollars per month of twenty days each for One hundred and Twenty Dollars.  Commencing on the 18th Day of Nov 1873 and for Such services properly rendered the Said district is to pay Ella J. Childs the amount that may be due according to this contract on or before the 10th day of March 1873

Contract
     It is hereby agreed between Joint school district no (5) in the towns of Brooklyn and st. Marie and Josie Krom a qualified teacher of the town of Brooklyn that the said Josie Krom is to teach the common school of said District for the term of three months for the sum of Eighteen dollars per month of ywenty days each for Fifty-four dollars commencing on the 21st Day of April 1873 and for such services properly rendered the Siad district is to pay Josie Krom  the amount that may be due according to this contract on or before the 14th of July 1873
     The condition of the above contract is such that if the said Josie Krom becomes dissatisfied before the expiration of the term she will have the privilege of leaving the school, and if the said district become dissatisfied before the expiration of the term the district shall pay to the said Josie Krom for the wages at the rate of eighteen dollars per month up to the time of dissatisfaction.

Marie and Lorenzo Patterson a qualified Teacher of the Town of Brooklyn that the Said Lorenzo Patterson is to teach the common School of Said district for the term of four months for the Sum of Forty Dollars per month of twenty days each for One hundred and Dixty Dollars commencing on the 10th Day of Nov 1873 and for Such Services properly rendered the Said Dist is to pay Lorenzo Patterson the Sum that may be due according to this contract on or before the 10th Day of March 1874

Resolved the district build a new wood School house twenty four by 32 feet on the base, the posts twelve feet high, the Studing 2 by 4 inches, Sheeted with first class dimention boards on both sides matched, Sided with best quality of novelty Siding, the foundation to be made of stone laid in lime and Sand two ft high at entrance Sixteen inches thick, Joice 2 by 8 inches for sills, hand pine floor lined underneath with good dimention boards and both jointed, joice over head 2 by 8 two by 6 inches for rafters, Shingles gilt edge or in other words clean with four corners & no shakes in them, lath & plastered with hand finish, cornice Same as Olin School house, 8 windows 12 by 14 glass, counter check Sash 5 ft entry to be Seated by the board.
Resolved that the board let the work by the day, the board to oversee the building & buying the material, the board (to Select a man to buy the material & pay his expences $2.00 for his services if they wish.
Resolved that the dis raise by tax Six hundred dollars to build this new Schoolhouse
Resolved that the board borrow a sum if needed suficient to complete & finish the house & pay the lowest rate of interest they can get it for
